Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust record of ? medieval castle reads 'Name suggests some form defended site. No evidence (CPAT site visit 1978). Possibly name given to high ground and thus not indicative of an antiquity.'

Gatehouse Comments

This is a rocky hilltop but clearly not a castle site, possible a place of retreat in times of trouble, but the name 'field of the castle' might merely reflect the tenurial ownership of this particular field, although to which particular castle is unclear.
