Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust HER report of medieval motte reads 'Name suggests mound. No evidence CPAT visit 1978.'

Gatehouse Comments

On hillside, near minor road junction in pass. The presence of a later high status house, Dolwar Hall, is suggestive that this site may have been a castle, possibly a small taxation point or 'knight's fee' castle but the overall evidence of a castle is weak.
