Gatehouse Comments

Does not appear in PastScape or Suffolk HER as town defences, probably recorded as outer bailey of Clare Castle. How much of the town was enclosed by these banks? Does this include the market place and the parish church? If the market place and parish church are outside the embankments can this really be considered as a town defence?
