A ruined fortified house is marked on the OS 1st edition 6" map. (PastScape)

Gatehouse Comments

Map dated 1863. This appears to be two rectangular parallel buildings marked as 'Cobble Castle (Ruins)' Other than the name nothing on the map says fortified building. Possible position for a bastle, but Gatehouse suspects was a post medieval building with a grandiose or ironic name. On the air map a small modern farm building (? Animal shelter) seems to stand on one of the rectangular building platforms.
