Documented site of a tower at Coatflat Hall, which was built on its site in 1797. (PastScape–ref. Perriam and Robinson)
Coatflat hall is a commodious dwelling one mile and a quarter from Orton, and one mile and a half from the Tebay station, rebuilt in 1797, by the late Mr. John Milner, on the site of the old hall, which was a castellated looking building, where it is said the judges on the northern circuit often regaled themselves on their way between Appleby and Lancaster.
