A large semi-circular enclosure formed by bank and outer ditch. Possibly settlement of "A and E Waltervilla". The N arc of a an embanked and formerly ditched enclosure, c.50m internal diameter. A C12 sherd was found stratified below the bank, whilst mortared stone foundations, associated with a C13 sherd, have been observed within. A larger and slighter enclosure loops round c.110m to the N. (Coflein)

Near Walterstone hamlet there is a large semi-circular enclosure formed by a bank with an outer ditch. Its diameter is c 10m (sic). Beyond ringwork to N it is possible to discern a much larger enclosure encompassing adjoining fields to the N and NW. Possibly a village enclosure. (OS card ST 07 SE 33) Surviving defences take the form of a strong bank (RCAHMW 1991, 132-3 CR21). (Glamorgan-Gwent Archaeological Trust HER)

The monument comprises the remains of a ringwork enclosure dating to the 12th century. The enclosure is situated on the west side of a small stream and consists of a bank with discontinuous outer ditch. The bank is c. 1m high and 9m wide with a flattish top. The outer ditch is c. 6m wide, very shallow and flat-bottomed. Outside it is a small bank c. 0.3m high. In the middle the bank peters out and the ground outside the bank is uneven and higher with stones showing. To the north of this is a hollow area c. 3m in diameter, 1m deep with the bank 2.5m high on the inside. Excavation in 1995 confirmed the origins of the enclosure lie within the 12th century.
