Glamorgan-Gwent Archaeological Trust HER record of a medieval bishops palace reads "Partially explored in 1937 by Nash-Williams. Work included cutting sections through the main embankments which seperated the Monastery Field."

Gatehouse Comments

Bishop's Palace Field is a placename in the complex of earthworks that are the remains of a grange of Tewkesbury Abbey. The site has been excavated and footing of various building were found along with C12-C16 pottery, fragments of a Tithe barn and a dovecot remain above ground. This was a significant grange but there seem to be no references to it being a residential episcopal manor other than the placename.
