A large country mansion in red sandstone, comprising a mediaeval pele tower to the south-east built largely of Roman dressed stones, mid and late Georgian additions and alterations, and extensive late C19 wings on the north-west side. There is a fine Roman Doric colonnade at the entrance, having 9 columns with mouided entablature. The C19 wing has 5 gabled semi-dormers and mullion and transom windows on 2 storeys. At the time of survey, 1976, the house is standing derelict after a serious fire. (Listed Building Report)
Was a large country house consisting of a C14 pele tower built largely of Roman dressed stones, mid and late Georgian additions and alterations with additional C19 wings.
