Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust record of ? medieval castle reads 'Traditional site of castle on east side of Castle Hill. No such site noted (RCAHM 1913)'.

A somewhat conspicuous lull rising to a little over 1,000 feet, two miles north-west of Nantmel. At present there are no traces of earthworks upon it, but a tradition exists in the district that formerly the foundations of ‘Nantmel Castle’ were visible on the east side of the hill. Gatehouse Comments

Prominent solitary hill. If a 'castle' site then probably Iron Age hillfort although the traditional account of foundations being visible
