Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust report reads 'Large circular mound 30m in diameter with a flat top 8m in diameter. Probably a motte although it could be a garden feature.'

Gatehouse Comments

Supportive of the suggestion as a garden feature is the fact that the nearby Leeswood Hall is an C18 Queen Anne house built on a new site (The Old Hall is 700m east and may, itself, not be a medieval manorial centre as the church is a 1500m south east.) However, the site does overlook a crossing of the river Terrig as is not all together improbable as a motte.
