The antiquum castellum (Kalender of Archbishop {sic} Samson, ed. Davis, charter 106) may be a Roman villa. (Renn 1973)

Gatehouse Comments

Nothing to suggest Renn had a specific Roman villa in mind. The given map reference is for a scheduled site of a probably Roman villa, said to the site of the find of the Mildenhall Treasure. However, there are other possible Roman sites in the area and the original reference, whatever it is, may not actually refer to a Roman site at all.
