Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust record of ? medieval castle reads 'Name suggests defended site. No such site visible to CPAT site visit 1978.'

A farm so called–'windy castle.' (RCAHMW). The Inventory also footnotes the name occurs as a parish boundary marker in 1722.

Gatehouse Comments

Unlikely to be a medieval castle site, which only rarely are found on old parish boundaries. Fairly high on the edge of the Cambrian mountains the name is likely to be ironic and refer to local weather but just possibly might be the site of a farmstead held by a tenant owing some sort of military service.
