Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust record of ? medieval castle reads 'Name suggests some form defended site. No trace on ground. Site is occupied by marshy valley in hillside.'

Gatehouse Comments

CPAT seem to favour this as possibly associated with a lost Iron Age hillfort although this could also be a place of retreat of any era or a summer pasture sometime in the demense of the local lord. The name can be translated as 'mountain pasture of the castle' or 'mountain pasture castle'.
