Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust record of ? castle reads 'Name possibly suggestive of defended site. No such feature noted (RCAHM, 1913)'

A farm, the name of which has no apparent archaeological significance. (RCAHMW 1913)

Gatehouse Comments

The name, roughly 'moorland/meadow of the fortress' may just suggest that nearby Pain's Castle had some rights over the land although a small 'knight's fee' farmstead is another, less likely, possibility.
