Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust record PAR 1982, of ? medieval castle reads 'Name possibly significant of some form of antiquity and noted as being ruins and fort by OS 1964. This description also seems to be applied to PAR 1983 by OS, 1964 and it is not clear which feature is supposed to be where. No further details'. Post Medieval Farm on site. PAR 1983 is given map ref SO12007472 and called White Walls. Coflein records White Walls as a ruined C19 farmhouse and Palace as late C19 farmhouse both probably originating as common land encroachments.

Gatehouse Comments

It is more likely the OS report of ruins relates to the White Walls farm house and the 'fort' is either a mistranscribed 'farm' or a unclear reference to the evocative placenames. No evidence to suggests this is the site of a medieval building of any form and the 'Palace' name is fanciful and C19 in origin.
