Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust record of ? motte reads 'Roughly circular mound some 9.1m high with possible ditch on western edge the whole feature being very much ploughed down (Phillips, D.W.). Possibly natural'

Gatehouse Comments

Site in river valley bottom. Several Bailey placenames in close vicinity (although Beili has a more general meaning of enclosure in Wales). Any feature in this area will have been subject to damage from ploughing, river erosion and from the nearby railway workings.
