Hogg and King state this site was noted by R.W. Banks (1876) as possible motte but they reject it as a natural mound. Recorded in CARN as 'Non Antiquity'.

Bank's article is not particularly clear and it is uncertain whether it was he or the RCAHMW that made this identification as a motte. Regardless it can be safely rejected as a motte.
