It is difficult to known what Remfry meant. Little in the HERs suggests a village here (a dubious Longhouse site is recorded), let alone village defences. Was Remfry suggesting a bailey of Tomen Bedd Urge motte and bailey castle contained something more than the buildings one might associate with a castle?
