Gatehouse Comments

Black rock is a common place name though no Black Rock placename appears in Powys in the OS gazetteer. Craig Ddu is also fairly common and is the name of a hill near Rhayader which overlooks the road in a narrow pass and is close to a Roman marching camp at SN924698. The historian Paul Remfry, who has done much work in the area, informs Gatehouse this is probably the Blackwood enclosure site at Trewern.
