DAT record of possible motte, possible round barrow.

A "Mount" place-name on the parish tithe map that may have indicated a round barrow or cairn existed here. The site excavated at the time of the developments by PetroPlus. No evidence for a round barrow was uncovered although in an adjacent field there were some sherds of Bronze Age pottery and a Bronze Age roundhouse was discovered, but nothing which was considered to represent a funerary/ritual site. The site has now been built over. Site of small medieval settlement called Newton.
