A fortified site at Lawrenny is marked on William Rees 1936 map of "South Wales in the 14th century". The location of the site is unknown, possibly below the later 18th century house. (Dyfed Archaeological Trust HER)
If an earlier building existed here, all trace has gone; the present mansion was erected by Lord Phillips in the 19th century. (Edwards)
