The farmstead of Pen y cnwc now occupies the site of the destroyed mount of Castell Morris (Castle Maurice), a name still preserved in the adjoining hamlet and in Pont felin Forris. Within living memory the mound seems to have been fairly intact, and to have borne some stone foundations. When removing it from the farm-yard it is recorded that " the skeleton of a man was found." It is improbable that this position, if the site of a baronial mount-castle, should have lacked a bailey; but such a feature has been cleared away entirely. (RCAHMW)

Gatehouse Comments

Nothing remains of motte, which may have been a reused burial mound.
