A ditched mound, c.40m in diameter and 8.6m high, summit diameter 14m. A D-shaped/subrectangular platform, c.42m by 40m, defined by scarps, up to 1.0m high, with traces of a ditch, adjoins on the E, both being actively eroded by the Luggy Brook on the N. (Coflein)
Motte. Base diameter 40m. Top diameter 14m. Bailey to E reduced to scarp edged platform. N edge of motte eroded by Luggy brook. Wrongly classified 'Tumulus' by OS, 1903. Steep sided, near circular mound, c.42m diameter at base and c.20m diameter across summit, with a vertical height of 8m. A poorly defined shallow ditch, up to 10m wide in places surrounds the motte. To the east of the mound, are the remains of a rectilinear bailey, where a low bank with suggestions of an external ditch in the south-east corner define an area with rough dimensions of 36 x 43m. The northern extents of the bailey are not known due to erosion by the stream. It was estimated that 18% of the mound had been eroded away by 1995. The exposed section of the mound was recorded and conservation measures taken to prevent further damage to the monument. (Silvester, R J, 1997) (Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust HER)
