Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust record of ? castle reads 'Name given to mound on Belan Farm. Mound unlocated CPAT 1978.'

A position on the farm of Belan, and on the east side of the tiny streamlet called Nant yr Hebog. The name 'Belan' signifies a mound, generally artificial, and the mound in this instance may have given rise to the suggestion of a castle. (RCAHMW)

Gatehouse Comments

Isolated position in small valley, unlikely castle site, but just possibly a 'knight's fee' farmstead motte. If there was an artificial mound here it is long gone, presumably under the later farmhouse.
