Ditched sub-circular mound, c.30m in diameter and 6.0m high, having traces of a bank about its summit. (Coflein)
Motte with surrounding ditch. W.side of ditch & NW quadrant of mound have been damaged. Top has been dug into & upon it are remains of an earth & stone bank. (Glamorgan-Gwent Archaeological Trust HER)
The monument comprises the remains of a motte and bailey castle, a military stronghold built during the medieval period. Twyn Tudor stands on level ground to the S of St Tudur's church. It is a large and steep sided mound, 12m high with a slightly dished summit 14m in diameter. A shallow ditch surrounds the S, N and E sides, this is 5m wide and 1.5m deep, becoming 0.6m deep on the N side. The ditch is not discernible on the W side. There is no bailey evident.
