A knoll on which no artificial work can easily be recognised. However, Llwyd was certain of its function as a castle mound in 1698. The construction of the railway has altered the feature somewhat. Considered by Spurgeon to be a natural mound (Manley, J, Grenter, S & Gale, F, 1991, pp171). (Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust HER as Medieval Motte)
