Castell - A small fortified spot on the sea coast at porth Wen, 2 1/2 miles NW of Amlwch (Jones).There is no evidence of any artificial earthwork or fortification in the vicinity of Castell (SH 407-943) (OS record). (Gwynedd Archaeological Trust HER Record)

Gatehouse Comments

Listed in CARN as site of early-medieval castle. Uncertain if this means a Dark Age site. Situated by small rocky bay. No real suggestion of a medieval castle site and the 'fortification' may have always been a natural feature with a suggestive name.
