There is an earthwork of a possible moated site at Bothel, which may have been a possession of the le Brun family. (PastScape)

No record of excavation. Is this a le Brun site? He had Bothel, Bowness and Beaumont manors. (Perriam and Robinson)

Gatehouse Comments

The location given is quite vague. No earthwork is shown on modern or 1st edition OS 6inch map of 1868. Bothel Hall is marked on the 1868 map as at the North East end of the village well away from this grid reference. Gatehouse suspects the Le Brun manor house (which may not have been residential) was at the location of the Hall and this ?moat was not manorial.
