Moat 1/4 mile North-East of Cockbridge,well-preserved, slightly damaged by a road on the North-West corner. There may be an entrance to the North. (PastScape ref. Perriam and Robinson)

Gatehouse Comments

There is no moat at the reference given in Perriam and Robinson who's source was Cumbria SMR record 2995. The moat a quarter of mile north east of Cockbridge is Whitehall Moat at NY202412. No site is now given NY209415 on the current (2014) online Cumbria HER mapping site. Duplicate record of the Whitehall moat and an erroneous map reference. Can be rejected as a separate site.
