The 1415 survey records a Turris de Hawtwisill and the 1541 survey records "At Hawtewysle is a toure of thinherytaunce of Sir William Musgrave knight in measurable good rep'ac'ons."

Gatehouse Comments

This the location of this tower is uncertain, it is often suggested as either Musgrove Old Tower or Red Lion Tower but both of these seem to date from rather later than even 1541 and neither seem to the site of an earlier building.
