Field Named Castleditch Hill on the Tithe Map of 1841 for Ipsley, Redditch, parcel number 252. This does not appear to refer to the camp marked on many maps that lies about 500 metres to the north. (Worcestershire and Worcester City HER)

Gatehouse Comments

Site now built over and landscape interpretation is difficulty and reliant on old maps. A small pit is marked on the 1884 OS map in the next field north but this field is clear of features. Some 'park' names in the area but nothing to suggest medieval occupation of any sort in this field and certainly not a manorial centre. The origin of the 'Castleditch Hill' field name is obscure but there are no hard and fast rules about naming fields and, in this case, it probably has nothing to do with a medieval castle.
