Place name containing elements which imply the existence of a medieval road and of an earthwork site, of uncertain type and date. (West Yorkshire HER)

Gatehouse Comments

Nothing, other than a large modern quarry, obvious on the air photo. Any archaeological feature is likely to have been destroyed. The location could be that of an Iron Age hillfort (or hillside defended site) but isolated from medieval settlement and unlikely as a medieval castle site.
