The east wing of Brierley manor house, which stands on a fine hill-top site about half-a-mile south east of the village, is a stone-built, three-storeyed structure, incorporating late-medieval work that includes a projecting turret with a newel stair and a stepped buttress, reminiscent of one of the larger bastle houses of the Scottish border.
