Gatehouse Comments

No serious question of a medieval fortification here. Located by Shoesmith as in Much Dewchurch CP but the given map reference is actually in Kilpeck CP. Nothing on map and may be mislocated. Gatehouse suspects may have been a feature of the once extensive landscape grounds of Mynde Park and, therefore a name of C18 origin. However, it may be an earlier place name and one suggestion worth consideration is this was the site of a mound used to distribute alms to transient 'lepers'.
