The Tithe Map records two fields as 'Buckcastle Hill' and 'Part of Buckcastle Common' (Shoesmith ref. Sprackling and Lesser)

Gatehouse Comments

Marked as Buckcastle Hill on modern OS map. Given map reference is open field but does seem to be close to a small settlement. This may well be an indicator of a site associated with medieval hunting rather than a 'defensive' site.
