The settlement of Castle is first recorded in 1370 (Gover). The place-name Castle suggests the site of a medieval castle, and associations with the Tristan legend may bear this out (Hendesdon). The settlement is still extant. (Cornwall & Scilly HER)

Another castle this close to Restormel Castle seems unlikely and other possible origins for the place name, such as a reference to lost Roman remains, could be considered.
