Oxfordshire HER record of ? Bronze Age Mound reads '40m in diameter, 1.6m in height, with faint traces of a ditch, clearly shown on RAF 1949 AP. Could be a round barrow or motte.'
During 2007-2009 non-intrusive investigations including magnetometry and GPR were carried out by SOAG. From observations of more than one outer ditch it is possible that more than one period of activity is represented, and a long sequence of perhaps ritual use may have occurred on the site. The site appears from the typology of the main ring ditch and central cairn to be a Bronze Age monument of significant proportions and the suggestion of an older ditch opens the possibility of a multi-period monument.
