There is evidence of a royal house at Bath within the Abbey precinct from the reign of King John, who visited on 4 occasions, and until 1276. (PastScape–ref. HKW)

Gatehouse Comments

In poor repair by 1274 and not mentioned after this. Within the confines of the Abbey precinct this can not have been a large palace. Map reference for Abbey church.
