Renn lists a siege work (a mound) 200 yards apart from presumably a castle in Wanborough Parish Wiltshire.

Gatehouse Comments

Gatehouse is quite unclear as to what this is. No other authority records a castle at Wanborough but there is a medieval moated complex at Wanborough Marsh (SU20018385 NMRN 222016) and a medieval mansion house called Hall Place (SU215834 NMRN 225689) either of which might be the supposed 'castle'; there are several mounds of various sorts recorded in PastScape which may be Renn's supposed siege work. Alternatively this is a reference to a siege castle of Marlborough Castle somehow mangled in publication. The map reference given here is for Wanborough parish church.
