A manorial site comprising of a moat and associated fish-ponds, seeminly imposed on an earlier complex, the remains of which are apparent in the "U"-shaped pond to the north (F1 BHS 19-OCT-67).
The manor, built in the 12th cent on the site of a still older building, was in the Giffard family from 1269 to 1608. It was completely demolished c 1800, but its site is easily traceable by the moat and fishponds, all now dry, which surrounded it (Hill 1911).
SP 128 405. Site listed in review of deserted medieval villages in Gloucestershire (Aston and Viner).
This square moat and associated fishponds, centred on SP 1277 4053, is situated at the southern end of the present settlement of Weston Subedge and immediately to the west of the parish church. (PastScape)
