There may have been a residential manor of the Bishop of Lincoln in Louth, although this was mainly an administrative centre for the bishop's demense, and there certainly will have been a house for the steward of the demense, probably also containing the bishop's court. The town had a market and fairs the management of, and collection of tolls from, would have needed the steward. Nothing remains and there is nothing recorded in the archaeological databases which can be identified with this house. The site is lost and nothing in the town plan or street names hints at a location although it is likely to have been near to the parish church at the given map reference.
