Licence to crenellate granted, in 1335, to Ralph de Bloyou for his 'mansum' at 'Colewe Heys'. Parker writes "Possibly Coombe-Keynes" Emery writes Colway in Lyme. An early C19 house on the site which dates back to before Domesday.
Colway Manor House was entirely rebuilt 1921 but incorporates the early 17th century stone entrance to the former house. A barn north of the house is of C17 origin (RCHME). Known as Colway Manor according to an inscription on the gate. The exterior appears to be completely modern apart from stone entrance referred to above, and it could not be ascertained if the present house is built upon the site of the former manor house. The barn, at SY 33769302, has walls of stone and cob, and an apparently original timber-framed roof (Field Investigators Comments-F1 GCS 11-FEB-55). (PastScape)
