Gatehouse Comments

Presumably this is Drayton near Banbury where Robert de Arden was granted a charter for a fair on 3 Feb 1329 and also the 'part of a gate from whose house still survives' mentioned by Leland. The transcription of the roll as 'Dratton' may well be erroneous the original actually being Draiton. Map reference for Drayton parish church. Arden's manor house is likely to be near the parish church but also note Drayton Lodge at SP430425, now a golf club but possible the centre for a medieval park, although Park Farm is south of Drayton.
