Church founded in circa 1175, allegedly on the site of a cross of 600. Additions were carried out during C14 and 1553. The church was restored in 1844-45. (PastScape)

Gatehouse Comments

Brooke writes church tower is notably strong. Church door, for which draw bar slot survives, was recorded as being of oak four inches thick embedded with several musket balls. As with several of the churches mentioned by Brooke Gatehouse has difficulty seeing anything unusual about this church generally or the church tower specifically. A thick oak door could deter thieves but would not stop determined raiders gaining entry through the windows.
