Gatehouse Comments

Not in PastScape or the online SMR. Long's source seems to be Warbrton's list but this includes sites other than towers and other authors seem to have not read this as a reference to a tower. Sir John Streyveln obtained licence for a chantry chapel in 1335 so presumably had residence of some status nearby (Possibly on the site of Grade 2star lister C18 Newton Hall at given reference) and while it is possible this residence had a modest tower, there is no evidence, other than the general ubiquity of such towers in Northumberland gentry residences, for this.
