King writes of Badbury 'nothing known of castle mentioned by Harvey' He also separately lists Bradbury and writes 'nothing known of castle mentioned by Moore.'

Gatehouse Comments

Why this is not the same as Harvey's Badbury and the iron age hill fort Barbury Castle is unclear. Presumably King was being cautious. Harvey does not list Bradbury or Barbury and places a query mark after this entry. Harvey's list was a collation of other authors, including Moore and the most likely explanation of Badbury is a typographical error for Moore's Bradbury. Gatehouse is confident these are the same. Moore lists this as Castle and Church suggesting some substantial remains. Is this the same as Leland's Badbury near Wimborne, Dorset, confused with Bradbury? Whatever it seems unlikely to be a medieval castle either in Wiltshire or elsewhere.
