Castle listed by Harvey and rejected by King who writes "Mentioned as confusion for Allesley or possible Annesley in Notts."

Gatehouse Comments

Mackenzie writes 'This castle is sometimes mentioned as "Filongley", suggesting another alternative Fillongley Castle Yard - This seems to be a misreading of Dugdale (whose gothic type and C17 sentence structure is not easy reading) who compared the tenurial descent of Allesley to that of Filongley. However, this does suggest that 'Annesley' is an alternative spelling (or more probably misreading of) Allesley and not a lost castle site.
