House demolished in C18. Licence to crenellate granted to Sir Michael de la Pole in 1385. This licence is unlikely to have resulted in any building as de la Pole was outlawed by Parliament the next year and died short after this. The manor returned to the Pole's and a scottish style machiolated gatehouse and tower with bartizans is shown in a early C18 drawing of the house (Emery).

Gatehouse Comments

The house probably dated from before the date of the licence. There have been several major rebuildings and the medieval form is uncertain.
