Old Peacock House was abandoned in the early 20th century and a new farmhouse built to the north. The site is now grassed over but there are remains of two buildings. One is a small square building (apparently a cottage which external steps to its upper floor) with walls c.0.6m thick and the base of a doorway of 18th century character; the other, a short distance downhill to the south east, is a rectangular building c.8.85m by 5.9m, now principally marked by a rectangle of nettles. The footings of its south wall are exposed, 0.92m thick. No evidence of any door positions etc are visible, although more might be seen with less vegetation in winter. From the wall thickness and the fact that there are bastles in this area, it would appear probable that the lower building was a bastle (Ryder 1994-5). (Northumberland HER)
