Gatehouse Comments

Described as "a toure & a stone house" in 1541 and as "ye remains of an ancient pile" in 1715 it was a house of the Fenwick family. The description as a tower and stone house would suggest a chamber or solar tower attached to a hall rather than a large integral tower house.
